Equipment Assessments with RAM Tool

The RAM Application

Paragon Engineering spent years in the field working for OEMs servicing, upgrading, and retrofitting electrical distribution systems and their associated controls.  Over those years we developed a software application that by answering very simple questions produces a real-world view of where the “risks” are in a customer’s system.  The Risk Assessment Matrix (RAM) tool produces a graph that shows you where you have the most vulnerability.  The Risk tool provides an objective means of measuring the probability of recovering from a component failure within the system.

There is NO software or means to predict when a failure within your electrical system will occur, nor how catastrophic the event will be.

Customer “Risk” Matrix after
applying recommendations

The intent of the assessment is to make logical cost-effective recommendations to the customer that produce a graph that mitigates
the customer’s liability as much as possible.

Paragon doesn’t perform a site investigation that is a “one size fits all
blanket” review.  We review each piece of equipment individually and
factually prior to any recommendation.

Assessments save up to 30% of Operating Costs

Equipment assessments are requested when a facility is acquired by a new owner or it’s been several years since a proper preventive maintenance plan was followed. The owner will reach out to the Original Equipment Manufacturer who will in turn send a technical sales specialist. The sales specialist only focuses on “OEM Approved” offers for rebuild or replacement.

The other commonly used option is for the customer hires an engineering firm for the assessment. The engineering firm then reaches out to the OEM for information. Ironically, the customer ends up with the
same solution.
There are several real-time good asset evaluation software platforms available in today’s market. They are a “hosted” solution with a monthly service charge. The purpose of the software is to recommend rudimentary field services and long term to advise the customer of obsolete equipment for recommendations of replacement.
The asset evaluation software is not normally compatible with Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) from the previous generation of products.

Brand Agnostic

Equipment assessments are vital when purchasing existing sites. It will
dictate where you’ll need to spend operating capital to maintain system
reliability.   It also determines the future operating costs and liability.

The year of manufacture, model #, and serial number provide the details
for recommended maintenance, available upgrades, and recommended
service providers.

All recommendations are “brand agnostic” to determine the solution
that best fits the customer’s needs.
